“The ex-officio Assembly representative of the Honors College shall be nominated and appointed by the Honors Student Advisory Committee.”
Interpretation:
Student may serve as an ex-officio member of Assembly while holding office in the Senate. Students may also serve as an ex-officio member of the Senate while holding office in Assembly.
Students may not serve as a Senate ex-officio while serving as a Senator and may not serve as an Assembly ex-officio while serving as an Assembly Representative.
In summary, students may only serve as an elected official in one legislative body at once but may serve as an ex-officio in the body in which they are not elected or appointed.
